It had been a year since our family dog Buddy passed over and just a few weeks since I’d lost my cat Mangey to cancer. I’d been feeling their losses moreso than usual, so sat out by their memorial rocks in the garden and asked their spirits and angels to find, choose and send along an appropriate pooch when the timing was right - preferably sooner rather than later as we all sorely missed having a dog around the farm.

That night as I lay drifting off to sleep, I thought about having another dog join the family and wondered when it would arrive and what its name would be.

The name ‘Marley’ came through loud and clear and I related it to the Bob Marley CD I’d been listening to earlier in the day whilst painting the house. ‘Marley’ - I like it!

I didn’t give it another thought that day or the next and didn’t make mention of it to anyone as I’d pretty much forgotten about it in the context of the day’s dealings.

My husband Steve came home from running errands in town the next day, and called me into our shed/office. Once there he dragged me abruptly inside and pointed excitedly to the floor, saying “Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday!” “Here’s your birthday present! Her name is Marley!”

Time stood still and I was rooted to the spot for what seemed like an eon with my mouth hanging open and eyes wide, looking from Steve to the dog and back again.

There at my feet, looking up at me with a big grin, sat my new dog ‘Marley’ - a 2 and a half year old Red Heeler x German Shepherd with the most beautiful face and markings and gentle, loving eyes. Her personality is a match all round aswell.

That explained the ‘Marley’ message I’d received a couple of nights back ..!

As it turned out, round about the time I was sitting in the garden asking the Universe for the appropriate dog to appear two days prior, Steve was at the RSPCA being shown the available dogs - unbeknownst to me … (he was supposed to be out getting car parts!)

Marley stood out as though she could be the only choice, and he just knew that she was ‘the one’. She’d been named ‘Marley’ by her previous owners when she was just a pup, and two and a half years later ‘Marley’ has come to live with us - and she is most welcome to stay.

What a wonderful Birthday present, and one I’ll treasure for many years to come thanks to Steve, the Universe, Buddy and Mange, the angels, and of course Marley.

Marley’s Messages – Settling In

Marley has settled in to our home, family and farm-life very quickly, and its been interesting to watch her initial interactions with the other animals on our farm. She’s quite fascinated with my pet pig Crackle, and barks and jumps around when we go out to feed her. Marley hasn’t been game enough to actually go into Crackle’s paddock just yet, but I’m sure that will come once she works up the courage. Pigs are said to be as intelligent as dogs, so the two will get on just fine I’m sure.

The horses (Rusty and Blaze) were a bit of a mystery for Marley at first and I think she was a little daunted by their size and curiosity as the horses aren’t shy nor afraid to come forward to investigate something new. The horses were just as curious about Marley as she was about them, and after an initial sniff and smell here and there she’s now quite happy to hang around in the paddock sniffing around when we’re playing with the horses. The horses aren’t too concerned at all and are happy enough to have her company.

My cocky Jo rules the roost and was most perturbed to have yet another interloper take my time and attention away from her, so when I have Jo out of her aviary, Marley is not to be seen. She learned early on that if she comes within Jo’s vision she’ll be stalked, attacked, harassed and chased off. Marley is a large dog and Jo is merely a bird, so thankfully Marley is a gentle and thoughtful dog and chooses to walk away. In reality, it would be the end of Jo in one snap of the jaws if Marley so chose, whether Jo realizes that or not.

The chickens and ducks have posed a bit of curiosity for Marley and she’s spent a bit of time sniffing around their coops, interesting in their doings, but other than that, she barely glances at them.

The thing I find most interesting is that although it was my husband Steve who initially brought Marley to our home as a birthday gift for me, she seems to radiate and is attached to me most predominantly, as though she KNOWS that she is meant to be my dog. She gets lots of positive attention from all members of the family and everyone who visits, but she is certainly most attracted to me … which I think is wonderful of course! Her personality is perfectly suited to me and our whole farm-tribe, and I can honestly say that I am absolutely besotted with her.

I know from my spiritual work, my study of the spiritual laws and communication with the spiritual realm, plus the theory and practice I’ve put in personally, I KNOW that we send out an energy to attract all experiences and people (and animals) into our lives. In the case of both Marley and I, I’d been putting out for the perfect dog, and she’d been putting out for the perfect home. Between the two of us, and with the help of the Universe of course, we managed to find each other.

What a beautiful blessing she is …

Love and Light

My family acquired both a beautiful black cat & a totally white dog through not even going out to buy one or go to the RSPCA.  I am a huge animal lover...& always had wanted a pet.  The first to arrive was our beautiful black cat...from my ex (my boyfriend at the time).  He acquired her & gave her to me since our home was more appropriate.  At that time I was trying to manifest up what dog I had always wanted.  A year had gone by & then out of the blue my boyfriend at the time called me up & said, guess what I have here.  A little fluffy white dog.  He said he was going to give it to his mother as her birthday present.  I was envious a bit of course, because it was exactly the dog I had always wanted.  Then a few days later, my boyfriend called up & said...can you look after the dog, my mum doesn't want to look after it...she's too busy.  And that's how I acquired my beautiful dog Sunny :)

That is like my deaf white cat lucky. I had been wanting a cat but really didn't have the money or time. Didn't think my boyfriend of the time would want one. Well he had gone out one night and came home when I was sleeping. I woke up and heard a mew and said "what's that?" He said "what?" trying to joke. I knew what it was and got up and there was the tiniest little white kitten, but I could tell he was very young. He had told me he was walking home (we lived in the city) and had found him on a stairs outside of the apt houses that lined our busy street. He would have been dead by morning if he had not found him. The only other thing was that he was very young, but I grabbed something out the fridge (we had a very small one) and gave him crab, which was all I had to give him, which he tried to eat and I gave him milk. The next day I got wet cat food and a bottle. I didn't know about the mother's milk they sell in the pet stores at the time. The good thing was he was able to take nibbles and he liked the milk. I had given him a big lion stuffed animal to sleep by so that he would think it was his mother. A couple of days in he didn't look so good. I told my boyfriend if he lives through tonight he will live for a long time. Well here we are together and in october of this year he will be 15. We have been through hyperthyroid problems, which I was blessed and able to take care of, but now we have high blood pressure which we are taking care of. He has never shown sickness a day in his life and has always been a happy cat. He is not a big lap cat or huggy cat but he loves to be on the covers and sleep between my legs. He is my lucky cat.
